Can we all step back and just appreciate the irony that now that the NFL has lost in federal court they’re basically saying “but the NFL was perfect how it was, and now the players are going to ruin it by operating by free market principals (removing the draft, and salary caps, which by and large, are socialistic constructs that build ‘fairness and equality’ into the system). Meanwhile, the NFL appeals to a bunch of conservative republican judges who are obviously pro-business who are going to have to figure out a way to be pro-socialist agenda (Draft, Free agency, salary caps, revenue sharing, ‘fairness’) while still being pro-business, e.g; for the owners. I’m expecting the eighth circuit to literally implode.

side effect of working with python: every last character of code you write is perfectly spaced, regardless of the style restrictions. I now make sure that my tabs are perfect in any language I write in.

In search of the holy scale, part 2

Hadoop, scribe, etc- are pretty amazing.  Facebook has solved a serious issue in scaling a social network (logging actions, managing a 7TB/day in writes, etc) with Scribe.

In search of the holy scale, part 1

This deck is based on how Twitter is handling the storage and retrieval of tweets, social graphs, etc.  It’s shocking mySql is still handling it.   Worth the read.
